My Sailing Experience

On May the 10th the year 8's and 7's were given a surprising opportunity... sailing! And no, it is not like canoeing. All we had to do was for our parents to sign the papers that were given to them from school. The paper also had the belongings we had to bring for sailing. Ms George gave some important advice... "wear our togs underneath our warm clothing." We also asked some questions like are we driving there or taking a bus? Some kids that had been sailing before gave me some advice as well.

We first had to pick a boat and a partner to create the boat we also had an example to copy, we needed a bit of help but after all that we made it. Than we took a little break and ate our morning tea. We followed this girl to the trailer to get our life jackets and jackets. Afterwards, they asked for 6 people to hop on their boats with their partners then 6 other people to go in. They put my rope into there boat so we could have a little practise to control the boat. Next they let us go and we did some fun activities. However, they told us that we had to go back and eat our lunch since it had been an hour more or less. I was eating my lunch when one of the young staff came and sat next to us on the other seat and we started talking. We went back into the water and the floor was a bit slippery. They let us go anywhere and did some activities again.

To me sailing was really great I just really wished we had more time to swim or do some fun things but over all it was actually  pretty amazing, so much more than I expected.
